Having Fun with Picnik

All in good fun I thought I would share something pretty neat.  Now keep in mind I was going with a Halloween theme, but you can use this software for prettier and sweeter things.

In honor of the Beware stamp set that I have been using so much of lately. I went to Picnik and uploaded my picture. The original pic is below. The standard edits are free. However, I used the premium package which you pay for.  You can pay by month or annually.  An annual subscription is $25.  Using the premium package I was able to tweak my photo into the super scary one above.

This is a nice fall photo I took today.  I was totally amazed at all the leaves on the ground.  Using this photo I uploaded to Picnik and turned the lovely fall leaves in to some spooky night leaves......oh, and a happy pumpkin. If you want to see another example pop over to my family life blog.

BEWARE!!!

I was having more fun playing with My Acrylix stamp set Beware.  I watched this tutorial at Fabulousy Artsy on how to make a suspension card.  This was so much fun to make. 

To make my flourished orange paper I just put all the stamps from Beautiful Flourish together on one block and did some random stamping on some plain orange cardstock. The Beautiful Flourish stamp set is part of the November Workshop On The Go. 

Give It A Go

I am always looking for inspiration.  And I have become a big link-er.  Meaning I will start at one site or blog or someplace on the web and I will click on a link and just follow that where ever it may go.  While doing this I tend to come across some pretty neat stuff.  So on one of my linking journeys I came across this

So - now I am making my shopping list of necessary items in order for me to give this a try later today.  Fridays are my "hurry-and-finish-school-so-Mom-can-go-play" days.  I know, not the most shining example of a homeschool mom, but I am true to me.  And having some time to play in the scrap room is important for  the happiness and well-being of our entire household.  Trust me on this.  Just trust me!

Spooky Halloween Cards and October WOTG

I have had so much fun today. I spent the afternoon playing and made these cards for Halloween.



I used the Beware My Acrylix stamp set. I also tried out the two color embossing technique. This is featured on the CTMH TV Art & Soul episode that is airing now. If you haven't watched it you should go check it out. Very informative. I inked my cards with Creme Brulee, Sweet Leaf, Twilight, Cocoa and Black. I inked my moon first. I then masked the moon and inked everything else. I think they look perfect for Halloween.

This is the October Workshop On The Go. This month the kit is using the Grace paper line, which I love. So pretty. I made this layout of my daughter who participated in the Little Miss Fauquier pagent this summer. I was so proud of her. She did not win a trophy, but she certainly found her self confidence. She is even planning on doing it again next year. That's my girl!

Scaredy Cat

Here is my scaredy cat.  This is a little sign that is going to hang around the basket holding some goodies for a Home Gathering I am doing on Friday night.  I thought it was appropriate since Halloween is just over a week away. I think I will also put it on my candy bowl on Halloween night.  Spooky.

I used Colonial White cardstock as my base.  I inked the edges outside edges with Black (Z2167), transitioning to Twilight (Z2160) and a little halo of Creme Brulee (Z2167) around the moon.

The moon and cat I die cut using a sizzix die.  The ribbon is something I had in my ribbon jar. It is actually really cool as it has flecks of green and purple in it.  I stapled the bottom of the ribbon with some green colored staples (Z1010) and used my Pivot Point Stapler (Z1009).  The black card stock is core-dinations black over yellow. 

My Boo I stamped using black ink on White Daisy cardstock (1385) using the Posterboard Alpha set (E1014). 

Autumnal Fun

This layout is celebrating my love of Autumn. It is my favorite season. I am all about the colors of fall. I savor the burnt oranges, warm browns, golden yellows, muted greens and the vibrant reds. We enjoy going to the pumpkin patch every year and bringing home our little pumpkins. Another fall favorite is the corn maze. They are fun, fun, fun! This year we even did a huge corn maze up in PA, at night, in the drizzly rain, with flash lights. It was awesome.

At some point we are going to go apple picking. That will be another fall inspired page. I look forward to having fresh cut apples drizzled with caramel, making a huge apple pie and mulling cider.

These are the things that we cherish every Autumn.  These are our fall traditions.

Inspired By...

Today I was playing around with card kit from last September with the Just Because stamp set. While I was making some cards I came across this page. . .

And I instantly thought about doing this. . .

When I finished this page I decided to make a page about my Girl's Day out. Which led to this . .

Pumpkins and Twitterpated

We had such a lovely Saturday. I hope that you and yours did, as well. My hubby had to pull glider duty up at his Gliding club and was out all day. So, I decided to take the munchkins out. We went up to The Plains and did the Corn Maze. If you haven't been this is a fantastic corn maze. It took us 45 minutes to work our way through it. So much fun!

What I love about this Corn Maze is the fact that it is very traditional. It is not a huge production like Cox Farm. It is more quality country fun. They have some animals to look at like pigs, goats, chickens, sheep and turkeys. They have games to play. There is a hay ride. And there are slides and obstacle courses. All very fun and nicely laid out. The maze is huge and so well coordinated. You are actually on a scavenger hunt looking for pieces of you map. A good time.

Once we were home I was able to sneak down to my scrap room and play for a while. Here is a 2 page spread I made using Twitterpated and an older WOTG guide. A good tip, save those WOTG guides you can always use the guide with another paper theme.


I also put together this little cutie using Twitterpated and a soup can. What a way to recycle!
